Sun Bus Tech To Drive Malaysia's Public Transport Sustainability, Aims For 49 Pct Local Sales

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- Sun Bus Tech Sdn Bhd aims to drive public transport sustainability in Malaysia by targeting 49 per cent of domestic sales versus just four per cent in 2024.

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz praised the Malaysian bus manufacturer’s efforts to successfully penetrate the international market on a large scale.

"In 2024, 96 per cent of sales were from abroad, and only four per cent were from Malaysia.

"For 2025, they aim to raise local sales to 49 per cent, with 51 per cent going overseas," he said in a video on his X platform today.

Tengku Zafrul said Singapore’s Land Transport Authority is one of their international customers.

He added that Sun Bus Tech will take steps towards supplying electric vehicle (EV) buses this year.

"With EV technology and ongoing innovation, Sun Bus Tech is paving the way for a more sustainable public transport future in Malaysia.

"I hope more local companies will follow in their footsteps," he said.
