MTCDP Supports Growth Of 348 Mid-tier Companies To Date -- MATRADE

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has successfully empowered and guided 348 mid-tier companies (MTCs) across various sectors through its flagship Mid-Tier Companies Development Programme (MTCDP) to date.

MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said Malaysian MTCs have demonstrated remarkable resilience in navigating the increasing complexities of global challenges.

Despite a challenging economic landscape, he noted that MTCDP alumni have successfully expanded into new export markets, adopted sustainable practices, embraced digitalisation, and enhanced their global branding.

“Our MTCs have consistently demonstrated their unwavering commitment to strengthening their global presence.

"This underscores MTCDP’s vital role as a high-impact exporter development programme, driving export growth and boosting global competitiveness," he said at the MTCDP Graduation Wave 10 and Kick-Off Wave 11 ceremony today.

Reezal Merican shared that MATRADE will continue collaborating with strategic partners to strengthen the international presence of the country’s MTCs.

This includes a recently signed memorandum of understanding with the Malaysian Consortium of Mid-Tier Companies (MCMTC) to foster broader and more sustainable business expansion by leveraging collective expertise and experience to forge strategic collaborations.

"This collaboration will focus on three key areas—business capacity building, expanding market access, and leadership in the Halal market,” he added.

The MTCDP targets export-oriented MTCs with annual revenues ranging from RM50 million to RM500 million for manufacturing companies and RM20 million to RM500 million for service providers.

A total of 24 MTCs have graduated from Wave 10, while 22 new MTCs have been onboarded into the Wave 11 cohort today.
