Carbon Capture Bill Tabled For First Reading In Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 (Bernama) -- The Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage Bill 2025 (CCUS) was tabled for its first reading in Dewan Rakyat today by Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli.

He said the second reading will take place during this session.

According to the blue copy distributed in Parliament, the CCUS Bill includes provisions related to the capture, transportation, utilisation, and permanent storage of carbon dioxide aimed at reducing the effects of climate change.

The bill also contains provisions to promote the development of the carbon capture, utilisation, and storage industry as a new source for economic growth, along with related provisions.

“This bill will involve the government in additional spending, the amount of which has yet to be determined,” according to the document.
