U Mobile, CUMY Forge Partnership For IoT, Smart Mobility Growth

KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) -- U Mobile has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China Unicom Operations (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (CUMY) to drive innovation in the internet of things (IoT), smart mobility, and sustainable technology, accelerating adoption among businesses and large enterprises in Malaysia.

Under the strategic partnership, U Mobile and CUMY will leverage their respective strengths to develop enterprise solutions, with a focus on the internet of vehicles (IoV) and the integration of IoT ecosystems into transport and urban infrastructure to shape the future of smart cities.

“U Mobile and CUMY will also co-develop end-to-end digital solutions tailored for key industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and oil and gas, ensuring seamless connectivity to enhance operational efficiency,” the companies said.

U Mobile, chief information officer, Neil Tomkinson, said that as Malaysia’s future second 5G network provider, U Mobile is committed to supporting the country’s ambition of becoming a high-income digital nation.

“This partnership with CUMY will be a key enabler of this goal by accelerating digital transformation for enterprises and improving connectivity for Chinese businesses in Malaysia, creating a robust environment to attract further investment into the country,” he said.
