Bursa Malaysia Mixed At Mid-day

KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia struggled to build on Wall Street’s overnight rally to end the morning session mixed. 

At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) dipped 5.35 points to an intraday low of 1,512.31 from Wednesday’s close of 1,517.66. 

The benchmark index opened 4.74 points higher at 1,522.40 and reached an intraday high of 1,524.23.

On the broader market, gainers outpaced decliners 423 to 361, while 428 counters were unchanged, 1,225 untraded, and 17 suspended. 

Turnover stood at 1.92 billion shares worth RM1.13 billion.

Among the heavyweights, TNB advanced eight sen to RM13.64, Press Metal and SD Guthrie added two sen each to RM5.02 and RM4.85, MISC was flat at RM7.12, Maybank trimmed 12 sen to RM10.24, Public Bank eased one sen to RM4.53, CIMB slid two sen to RM6.91 and IHH Healthcare dropped 33 sen to RM6.77.   

As for the active stocks, Reneuco increased two sen to six sen, Pertama Digital and Innature both added one sen to 18 sen and 22.5 sen, respectively, while Sapura Energy slipped half-a-sen to four sen.   

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index slid 15.55 points to 11,348.51, the FBMT 100 Index weakened 19.93 points to 11,101.76, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index inched down 0.61 of-a-point to 11,058.18.

The FBM 70 Index bagged 47.49 points to 16,307.70, and the FBM ACE Index gained 7.65 points to 4,719.14.

Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index edged down 0.26 of-a-point to 154.51, the Financial Services Index depreciated 71.22 points to 18,541.22 and the Plantation Index eased 4.68 points to 7,432.69 while the Energy Index went up 12.34 points to 752.73.
