Bintulu Port Holdings Pays RM3.6 Mln Zakat To Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak

KUCHING, March 21 (Bernama) -- Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB) paid RM3.6 million zakat for 2024 to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS), which is its highest zakat contribution to date.

BPHB said in a statement that the zakat contribution was handed over by its president/group chief executive officer Ruslan Abdul Ghani to TBS general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie in a ceremony witnessed by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Ruslan said BPHB hoped that the zakat distributed would benefit the needy as well as strengthen relationships and increase customer trust in the company.

"As a corporate company, BPHB not only strives to provide efficient and quality services, but also emphasises its commitment to showing concern for those in need through the distribution of its profits," he said.

According to him, this zakat payment also allows BPHB to implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) through the provision of wakalah, where part of the zakat money will be returned to the company to be donated back to the asnaf group by the company.

“BPHB hopes this zakat contribution will have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the local community in Sarawak,” he added.

The ceremony was also witnessed by BPHB chairman, who is also the Sarawak state secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, several members of BPHB’s board of directors and top management.
