Sorrellicious Legacy Sets Sights On Southeast Asia With Dry Roselle Exports This Year

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- Sorellicious Legacy, a manufacturer of fresh roselle-based products operating in Klang, Selangor, aims to export dried roselle to the Southeast Asian market by the end of this year.

Its owner, Siti Suraya Shariff, 42, said the move is considered following increasing demand from neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia.

“While participating in the ‘business matching’ programme, I found that there is high interest from outside parties, especially from Singapore, who are interested in marketing roselle-based products.

“Such demand opens up a huge opportunity for us to penetrate the international market,” she said to Bernama during the Malaysia Open House Exhibition @ASEAN KL 2025 today.

Siti Suraya said her firm plans to export dried roselle in the form of “halwa” (candies) or sachets to these countries.

As for the local market, she intends to further expand the placement of Sorellicious products to supermarkets throughout Peninsular Malaysia.

“We want to continue to grow, God willing. Currently, our products are only available in 18 AEON Mall branches in the Klang Valley, Melaka, Johor and Perak.

“As the actual demand exceeds the current reach, we are working to fulfil the demand,” she said.

To increase the company's targeted income of RM35,000 per month, Siti Suraya also plans to diversify market segments.

“We do not want to rely entirely on retail sales. We are also targeting customers from the business sector, such as restaurants and food factories, opening up more export opportunities in the future,” she added.

Sorellicious Legacy offers a variety of roselle-based products, including juice drinks, cordials, essences, candies and roselle sachets, which are sold at prices ranging from RM4.00 to RM20.00.

Raw roselle is offered at prices ranging from RM3.80 to RM6.00 a kilogramme.
