AIROD, Satys Ink Joint Venture Agreement To Enhance Malaysia’s Aircraft MRO Sector

KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- Aerospace engineering company AIROD Sdn Bhd has signed a joint venture agreement with Satys Aircraft Painting to boost the capabilities of Malaysia’s aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector, particularly in exterior finishing and aircraft painting.

Headquartered in France, Satys is a global expert in aircraft painting, sealing, and surface finishing, providing services to major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and airlines worldwide.

In a joint statement, the two companies said their synergy aims to support the Asia-Pacific region’s commercial and military aviation sectors.

They said the partnership is expected to stimulate job creation, knowledge transfer, and capacity development, aligning with Malaysia’s Aerospace Master Plan and strengthening Sarawak’s aspirations in the growing aerospace industry.

AIROD director Datuk Firhad Uzir Rahim said the collaboration with Satys would bring world-class technology and services into the country’s local ecosystem.

“This marks a significant milestone in the development of Malaysia’s aerospace sector and aligns with the government’s aspiration to establish Malaysia as a regional aerospace hub,” he said.

Meanwhile, Saty’s chief executive officer, Christophe Cador, said the partnership reflects their confidence in Malaysia’s aerospace industry and sets a new benchmark for MRO in the region.

The signing ceremony took place at the Courtyard Marriott in Toulouse, France, and was witnessed by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The event was also attended by senior leaders and guests from AIROD and Satys, as well as key representatives from the Sarawak state government.
