Trump Says He Will Soon Send Letter Informing Countries Of Tariff Rates

WASHINGTON, June 28 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- President Donald Trump said on Friday that he will send out a letter over the next week and a half informing countries of the United States (US) tariff rates they will be required to pay, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

"At a certain point, over the next week and a half or so, or maybe before, we're going to send out a letter; we talked to many of the countries, and we're just going to tell them what they have to pay to do business in the United States," Trump told reporters at the White House.

The US is in the process of making trade deals with several others, including India, Trump said.

When asked about the July 9 trade deadline, the president said it was not a fixed date.

"We can do whatever we want. We could extend it. We could make it shorter. I'd like to make it shorter. I'd like to just send letters out to everybody: 'Congratulations. You're paying 25 per cent'," he added.

The US has collected US$88 billion from tariffs, he reiterated.
