MATRADE Leads Delegation At Korean Fair To Boost Trade Ties

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will lead Malaysia’s participation at the Korea Import Fair (KIF) 2025 from July 7-9 at COEX Convention Centre, Seoul.

Malaysia’s participation underscores a strategic effort to deepen trade with South Korea, expand export opportunities, and strengthen Malaysia’s presence.

MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said that 12 Malaysian companies and one government agency will be featured at KIF 2025, under the Malaysia Pavilion organised by MATRADE. It will showcase lifestyle products, information communication and technology, professional business services and food and beverages.

“The Malaysia Pavilion will be the largest national pavilion at this year’s KIF, surpassing Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, demonstrating our commitment to expanding our trade footprint and enhancing visibility in the Korean market,” he said in a statement today.

Organised by the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), Malaysia’s participation is due to a memorandum of understanding between MATRADE and KOIMA on Dec 1, 2024 during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to South Korea. It reflects both countries’ commitment to enhance bilateral trade.

“By joining KIF 2025, we are putting the MoU into action, creating real opportunities for Malaysian exporters to tap into the South Korean market. We view this as a strategic step to strengthen ties with one of Malaysia’s key trading partners,” said Mohd Mustafa added.

MATRADE will implement a series of promotional activities throughout the event to include targeted business matching sessions with South Korean buyers, digital marketing and social media campaigns, among others.
