Labuan SMEs Embrace Digital Future Through TikTok Shop Workshop

LABUAN, July 18 (Bernama) -- The rise of digital commerce took centre stage for 80 local entrepreneurs on this duty-free island as they gathered today for a full-day TikTok Shop Workshop organised by the SME Association of Labuan.

SME Association of Labuan president Jefery Tan said the event, designed to empower micro small and medium enterprises (SMEs), provided hands-on guidance using TikTok Shop to boost online visibility, drive sales, and scale their businesses.

“Held in collaboration with TikTok Shop Malaysia, the workshop formed part of the association’s ongoing mission to support the government’s drive to digitalise the SME sector across the nation.

“Digital transformation is no longer a choice but a necessity for today’s entrepreneurs. Through this workshop, we aim to provide local SMEs with practical strategies to market and sell their products more effectively via TikTok Shop,” he said in a statement.

Participants were taken through interactive sessions on setting up TikTok Shop accounts, creating engaging video content, and deploying targeted e-commerce strategies — skills specifically tailored to suit small businesses with limited resources.

“This is not just about going viral on social media. It’s about helping small business owners reach new customers, boost visibility, and increase sales through affordable and modern tools.

“The SME Association of Labuan is reaffirming its commitment to hosting more initiatives that equip local entrepreneurs with essential digital skills and open new pathways for sustainable growth in the digital era,” he said.
