YTL Green Data Centre Promotes Malaysia As AI Hub - Tengku Zafrul

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- The YTL Green Data Centre in Kulai, Johor has placed Malaysia on the global map as an artificial intelligence (AI) hub and the AI Centre of Excellence in ASEAN, said Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He said the data centre was the result of a strategic collaboration between YTL Power International Bhd and NVIDIA to develop AI infrastructure using green energy.

"This mega project worth RM10 billion will not only create Malaysia's own large language model (LLM), but will also stimulate the growth of local talent and expertise and generate demand for high-tech positions such as data scientists and AI engineers," he said in a post on his Facebook page.

According to Tengku Zafrul, YTL is one of five NVIDIA Cloud Partners along with other technology giants such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's meeting with NVIDIA boss Jensen Huang was not just an empty chat. From potential, we make it a reality!" he added.
