Selangor Export Day: MATRADE, State Gov't Strengthen Collaboration, Boost Local Exports

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- The third edition of the Selangor Export Day on Monday (Aug 25) and Tuesday (Aug 26) is expected to bring together over 200 entrepreneurs and companies, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), from various industrial sectors in the state.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said in a statement that the programme has the potential for entrepreneurs to explore and expand their export market, thus strengthening Selangor's position as one of the country's main export states.

MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said that with export value reaching RM357.06 billion for 2024, and an increase of 7.3 per cent in exports compared to the previous year, Selangor continues to be the key driver of the country's trade aspirations.

"The Selangor Export Day is not just a normal entrepreneur programme, it serves as a platform for entrepreneurs to stay connected, share ideas, be innovative and spark ideas and inspirations.

"I urge all entrepreneurs, especially in Selangor, to seize this opportunity to obtain the latest export-related information to gear up to venture into the global market,” he said in the same statement.

The Selangor Export Day 2025, to be held at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Section 7, Shah Alam, is a Selangor government programme, through the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), and the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), through the Entrepreneur Development Division, in collaboration with MATRADE.

According to MATRADE, the programme will be officiated by state Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi and PKNS Group deputy chief executive officer (corporate) Suhaimi Kasdon, with MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz set to attend.

The two-day programme will feature various activities, including exporter advisory clinics, briefings on international market opportunities, exporter success story sharing sessions, financial facilities and grants for exporters.

Mohd Najwan also said that MSMEs are the backbone of the state economy and, with strategic support and exposure to the global market, they can boost their export potential more sustainably.

"In today's digital economy era, I believe that entrepreneurs’ ability to adapt to new technologies, leverage e-commerce and use market data will determine their resilience.

"As such, collaborative efforts between MATRADE and the state government through this Selangor Export Day are vital to ensuring our MSMEs are not only resilient, but also capable of rapidly growing to become competitive exporters at the global level,” he said.
