13MP: Five High-impact Projects Place Perak Strategically, Globally - MB

IPOH, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- Five high-impact projects identified for Perak under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) are not merely physical developments but strategic initiatives set to reshape the state’s economy.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the projects would strengthen investment, create jobs, advance human capital, accelerate infrastructure, and place Perak in a stronger position nationally and globally.

“The announcement of these five strategic projects carries major significance for Perak, reflecting the Federal Government’s commitment to prioritise their implementation under 13MP.

“It also demonstrates how the Malaysia Madani vision aligns with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 development agenda,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the state assembly on Thursday.

The projects include the Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park (KIGIP), an industrial zone in the north focused on renewable energy and low-carbon industries.

He was responding to Wong May Ing (PH-Pantai Remis), who asked about specific plans for Perak under 13MP and the benefits expected for the state.

On 30 July, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the five mega projects in Perak when tabling 13MP. They include the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tanjong Malim, the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC), the Perak Halal Industrial Park (HIP), and the development of rare earth elements.

Saarani said the announcement positioned Perak as one of the country’s prime investment destinations.

“AHTV, LuMIC, Perak HIP and KIGIP show that Perak is now taken seriously by both foreign and domestic investors.

“Federal Government support under 13MP further boosts investor confidence that these projects are backed by policy assurance and political continuity.

“Billions of ringgit in investments will reinforce market confidence in Perak as a stable, competitive and strategic state,” he said.

The projects are expected to create tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, alongside major industrial infrastructure such as ports, gas terminals and industrial parks.

“We will also see the development of research and development centres, smart cities integrated with green technology, and modern public facilities that improve the quality of life.

“This means not only industrial growth but also better living standards, with improved access to basic services, mobility and a more sustainable environment,” he added.
