The consultation, in a joint statement today, said the action would enable the full realisation of the upgraded agreement’s benefits to businesses and people across the region.

The Second Protocol to Amend the Agreement Establishing the AANZFTA officially entered into force on April 21, 2025, marking a key step forward in enhancing trade and economic ties among ASEAN member states, Australia, and New Zealand.

“The meeting (30th AEM-CER) reaffirmed the ministers’ shared commitment at the Special AEM-CER Consultation on May 20, 2025 to ensure the AANZFTA remains responsive to emerging global trends,  supports supply chain resilience and delivers meaningful benefits to businesses,” the joint statement read.
