Govt To Establish Sovereign AI Cloud To Strengthen National AI Capabilities, Digital Development -- Anwar
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The government will establish a Sovereign AI Cloud to ensure secure and sovereign national artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that can support government services and the country’s digital development.
The initiative is part of Malaysia’s preparations to become an AI-driven nation by 2030, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the National Digital Economy and 4IR Council (MED4IRN) meeting in Putrajaya today.
“The meeting also agreed to a proposed National Quantum Policy to strengthen readiness in facing advances in quantum technology, including the Q-Day threat that could compromise the security of national data and digital infrastructure.
“This action is vital to ensure Malaysia remains competitive, resilient, and prepared to face future technological challenges,” he said in a post on X today.
Q-Day refers to the future when powerful, stable quantum computers may break current encryption algorithms, rendering them insecure.
Anwar also said that among other matters discussed were the implementation of MyDigital ID, which needs to be enhanced, and the status of MyGov Malaysia, which requires cooperation and support from all ministries and agencies.
