Lantronix Powers Gremsy's Secure, Compliant AI Drone Platform

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- Lantronix Inc, a global leader in compute and connectivity Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, has announced its National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)/Trade Agreements Act (TAA)-compliant technology has been selected by Gremsy, a global manufacturer of camera gimbal stabilisers for drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

In a statement, Lantronix said the solution, built on its Open-Q 5165RB System on Module (SoM) powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing processor, enables improved power efficiency for longer drone operational time while reducing energy consumption.

The solution powers Gremsy’s new drone platform and its Lynx ISR payload, which integrates with the Hadron 640R dual thermal-visible camera from Teledyne FLIR original equipment manufacturer (OEM). It is currently in production with multiple Lantronix customers.

The Lantronix platform allows drone integrators to deliver high-performance, low-power compute and real-time artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, shortening Gremsy’s time-to-market while creating long-term revenue opportunities in commercial and defence drone markets.

Lantronix chief executive officer, Saleel Awsare said the company’s collaboration with Gremsy and other global drone manufacturers demonstrated its ability to deliver secure, high-performance solutions at scale while meeting stringent NDAA and TAA requirements.

Meanwhile, Gremsy vice general director, Nguyen Van Chu said Lantronix’s Qualcomm Dragonwing-based technology delivers industry firsts, including a direct connection with the FLIR Hadron 640R, enabling the Lynx payload with real-time Edge-based capabilities.

Production shipments are underway, with early revenue already generated. The solution is designed into mission-critical applications across government, energy, agriculture and infrastructure sectors, with its regulatory compliance providing a competitive advantage in United States defence and federal projects.

The platform offers Edge-based AI processing for object detection, scene recognition and anomaly detection; enhanced real-time analytics; ultra-efficient power consumption for extended flight times; Wi-Fi 6 connectivity for HD video and sensor data streaming; and rugged operation in extreme environments.

The partnership with Gremsy underscores its position as a trusted AI compute provider for global OEMs, supporting growth in high-demand verticals such as drones, robotics, and smart infrastructure.
