Nippon Kinzoku's NK-305 Series: Non-magnetic Stainless Steel With Superior Formability
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Nippon Kinzoku Co Ltd is pushing the envelope with its new NK-305 Series stainless steel, designed to meet the rising demands of miniaturised electronics and lightweight automotive parts.
The sixth release in its eco-friendly “Eco-Product” lineup, NK-305 combines ultra-low magnetic permeability with superior deep-drawing formability—a rare feat in stainless steel, according to Nippon Kinzoku in a statement.
This dual capability targets two critical challenges—minimising magnetic interference in sensitive electronic components and enabling complex, efficient shaping of automotive parts.
The NK-305 Series is offered in two specialised grades. The NK-305S surpasses the conventional SUS316 steel by significantly minimising magnetism during intensive processing, making it ideal for use in camera modules and sensor components, where it improves reliability while also reducing costs.
Meanwhile, the NK-305Y grade is exceptionally soft and highly stretchable, enabling the efficient production of complex deep-drawn parts. This makes it particularly valuable for manufacturing automotive parts and electronic enclosures, boosting both productivity and yield.
As devices shrink and cars lighten, NK-305’s advanced metallurgy addresses the pressing need for materials that balance precision and performance, promising better products for customers in high-tech sectors.
