ECERDC Realises RM1.12 Bln Investments In Kelantan As Of End-Sept 2025
KOTA BHARU, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) has continued to strengthen Kelantan’s economic growth, realising investments totalling RM1.12 billion as of end-September 2025, with the manufacturing sector remaining the main driver of the state’s economy.
In a statement, ECERDC said committed investments worth RM736 million involving the agriculture, services and industrial sectors are expected to create more than 1,300 new job opportunities once fully realised.
“The Palekbang–Kota Bharu Bridge project remains one of ECERDC’s key transformational initiatives in Kelantan. Upon completion, the bridge will enhance road connectivity between Kota Bharu and Tumpat, ease traffic congestion in the city centre, and open new investment corridors in northern Kelantan.
“This strategic infrastructure is expected to stimulate local trade, logistics and tourism activities, serving as a key catalyst for the next phase of economic growth within the East Coast economic region,” ECERDC said.
Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said close cooperation between the state government and ECERDC plays a crucial role in developing long-term plans and driving regional development.
“The state government will ensure that every initiative, whether in infrastructure development or investment facilitation, aligns with Kelantan’s development priorities. This strategic partnership enables the state to support high-impact projects that strengthen key economic sectors, create quality employment opportunities and improve the people’s living standards.
“Through careful, sustainable planning and development, we are clearly charting the course to make Kelantan more competitive and resilient,” he said after chairing the ECER implementation and coordination committee meeting here today.
Also present were Kelantan state secretary Datuk Dr Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean Tengku Feissal and ECERDC chief executive officer Datuk Baidzawi Che Mat.
Baidzawi said Kelantan’s growing development momentum reflects strong investor and stakeholder confidence in the state’s long-term growth potential.
He said major infrastructure projects such as the Palekbang–Kota Bharu Bridge, which has reached 22 per cent completion, along with key federal transport links like the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), will enhance connectivity and strengthen Kelantan’s position within the regional economic corridor.
“These catalytic projects are expected to attract new investments, drive industrial and tourism growth, and improve the quality of life for local communities.
“ECERDC remains committed to working closely with the state government and federal agencies to ensure these developments deliver comprehensive and sustainable benefits to the people of Kelantan,” he added.
