Bursa Malaysia Stays Higher At Mid-Afternoon
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia stayed higher at mid-afternoon with utility counters continuing to lead buying interest, analysts said.
At 3 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 4.92 points to 1,612.92, from Thursday’s close of 1,608.0.
The benchmark index opened 0.97 of a point weaker at 1,607.03.
On the broader market, gainers outpaced decliners 541 to 394, while 501 counters were unchanged, 1,260 untraded and 12 suspended.
Turnover stood at 2.12 billion units worth RM1.33 billion.
Among the heavyweight counters, Maybank and CIMB added one sen each to RM9.85 and RM7.34, respectively, while Tenaga Nasional gained 14 sen to RM13.26, and both Public Bank and IHH Healthcare were flat at RM4.21 and RM8.33.
On the most active list, Perak Transit, Tanco, and TWL all rose half a sen to 33.5 sen, 88.5 sen, and three sen, respectively. Zetrix AI fell half a sen to 85 sen, and Pharmaniaga dipped one sen to 25.5 sen.
Top gainers included Malaysian Pacific, which rose 28 sen to RM29.98, while MISC jumped 25 sen to RM7.76, and MI Tecnovation bounced 20 sen to RM3.05. UWC surged 18 sen to RM4.13.
Among the top decliners, United Plantations fell 42 sen to RM24, Ayer Holdings slid 38 sen to RM7.02, Fraser & Neave lost 24 sen to RM28.22, and Telekom Malaysia was 15 sen weaker at RM7.26.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index strengthened 36.76 points to 12,067.79, and the FBMT 100 Index widened 34.90 points to 11,801.83.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index grew 48.06 points to 12,162.31, the FBM 70 Index gained 46.04 points to 17,171.86, and the FBM ACE Index added 31.66 points to 5,277.06.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index expanded 25.90 points to 18,171.16, the Industrial Products and Services Index topped up 0.83 of a point to 172.12, and the Plantation Index grew 7.55 points to 7,925.30. The Energy Index firmed 3.80 points to 789.54.
