Modenas Sets 27,000 Unit Annual Sales Goal For Z15GT Supermoped
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas), a subsidiary of DRB-Hicom Bhd, has set an annual sales goal of 27,000 units for its newly launched Z15GT 149.5cc (cubic centimetre) supermoped, the company’s first fully Malaysian-developed model.
Priced at RM8,288, the Z15GT will be available nationwide from Oct 27, 2025, at authorised Modenas and Kawasaki dealerships.
Modenas chief executive officer Roslan Roskan said its competitive price made the model an attractive choice for riders.
“This price is very competitive for the market. We are also looking to penetrate the segment below 150cc to attract more riders to switch to our motorcycles,” he told reporters after the launch of the Z15GT here today.
Moving forward, Roslan said the company is targeting to sell around 5,000 units of Z15GT by the end of the year.
In a separate statement, Modenas said it plans to export to key markets, including the Philippines, Greece, Turkiye, and Cambodia, between 2026 and 2030, reinforcing its position as an ASEAN motorcycle hub.
Developed entirely by a team of 31 Malaysian engineers, designers, and technicians, the Z15GT supermoped features a 12.5 kilowatt (kW) engine, a 5.7-litre fuel tank, ABS braking, a smart key system and a built-in power socket.
Certified as an energy-efficient vehicle (EEV), the Z15GT carries a 78 per cent localisation rate, directly supporting Malaysia’s National Automotive Policy 2020 and contributing to the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, said the company.
