YTL Power Green Data Centre To Reach Full Capacity In Two Years

From Nor Baizura Basri

GYEONGJU (South Korea), Nov 1 (Bernama) -- YTL Power International Bhd's green data centre in Kulai, Johor, which has commenced operations, is growing at a very rapid pace, with full capacity expected to be reached within the next two years.

Its managing director, Datuk Seri Yeoh Seok Hong, said the data centre is already operational, with customers beginning to use its services, and further expansion is on the horizon.

He noted that the pace of expansion will also depend on the Malaysian government’s adaptation to artificial intelligence (AI) adoption.

"We already have a huge campus. It is a green data center in that we have solar power supplying the electricity. On top of that, we have 600 megawatts from the national utility which backs up the power requirements of these clusters.

"We already have 300 megawatts being built and commissioned on-site. So it's growing at a very rapid pace, and we reckon in the next two years this will be fully occupied," he told reporters when met here today.

YTL Power yesterday announced the completion of its AI data centre, powered by Nvidia Corporation’s latest liquid-cooled NVL72 Grace Blackwell (GB 200) GPUs.

Located on a 664 hectares site within its data centre campus in Johor, the facility is designed to support large-scale, high-performance AI and machine learning workloads.
