IOI Corp Appoints ex-Bursa Malaysia Chairman As Non-Executive Chairman

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- IOI Corporation Bhd has appointed former Bursa Malaysia Bhd chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, as its non-executive chairman, effective Nov 5, 2025.

The plantation group said in a Bursa Malaysia filing that Abdul Wahid succeeds Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui, who retired from the board today.

Abdul Wahid previously served as Maybank president and chief executive officer from May 2008 to June 2013, during which he was also the Association of Banks in Malaysia chairman.

He was later appointed as a senator and minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of economic planning from June 2013 to June 2016.

He also served as Permodalan Nasional Bhd group chairman from August 2016 to June 2018 and completed his five-year tenure as Bursa Malaysia chairman on April 30, 2025.

Currently, Abdul Wahid sits as chairman of Cypark Resources Bhd, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Malaysia and the MySDG Foundation.
