Hometown Hainan Coffee Plans RM50 Mln Expansion Over Next Five Years

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- Malaysian casual dining chain Hometown Hainan Coffee plans to invest RM50 million in network expansion nationwide over the next five years.

In a statement today, the dining chain said it aims to open another 20 restaurants in addition to the 25 outlets it currently operates.

“The brand’s confidence is further supported by Visit Malaysia Year 2026; we want Hometown Hainan Coffee to stand out as a place where visitors can savour the warmth, culture and identity of Malaysian food,” he said.

“As travellers increasingly look for culinary adventures that reflect local culture, Hometown Hainan Coffee is positioning itself as ‘a must-visit destination’ that showcases the nation’s diversity, quality, taste, and authenticity,” the statement said.

Adding to its positive momentum, Hometown Hainan Coffee said it has clinched two accolades at the World Top Gourmet Awards 2025 — the Top Outstanding Food & Beverage (F&B) Brand Award under the Authentic Casual Dining category and the Top Authentic Casual Dining Restaurant Award.

“The chain was also named one of the Top 10 Outstanding F&B Brands at the awards ceremony that took place in Guangzhou, China,” it said.

Co-founder James Koh said the group sees strong potential in Malaysia’s F&B landscape, driven by discerning local consumers and a growing number of travellers seeking authentic Malaysian food.

“Our vision has always been to preserve true Hainanese traditions while modernising the kopitiam experience,” Koh said.

Koh and his siblings, inspired by their family’s Hainanese coffee shop heritage, founded the chain.
