EIG Acquires 49.87 Pct Stake In Peru Gas Pipeline Operator TgP

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- EIG, an institutional investor in the global energy and infrastructure sectors, has acquired a 49.87 per cent equity stake in Transportadora de Gas del Perú S.A. (TgP) from Canada Pension Plan Investment Board via its managed investment vehicles.

According to EIG in a statement, TgP operates Peru’s principal natural gas and natural gas liquids pipelines under a long-term concession, supplying approximately 40 per cent of the country’s power generation.

EIG Global Head of Infrastructure, Matt Hartman said the company is pleased to complete the transaction and embark on the next phase of its partnership with TgP.

“Our priority is to support TgP’s operational excellence and long-term stability, delivering value for customers and stakeholders throughout Peru,” he said.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., with offices in Houston, London, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong and Seoul, EIG specialises in private investments in energy and energy-related infrastructure on a global basis.

As of Sept 30, EIG had assets under management of US$24.3 billion and has committed more than US$51.7 billion to the energy sector through 421 projects or companies across 44 countries over its 43-year history. (US$1 = RM4.07)
