Bursa Malaysia Remains Lower At Mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained lower in mid-afternoon trade, weighed by mild profit-taking on selected blue chips amid thin trading activity.

At 3.02 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 4.99 points to 1,676.00 from Monday’s close of 1,680.99. The index opened 3.33 points lower at 1,677.66.

In the broader market, decliners outpaced gainers 460 to 373, while 551 counters were unchanged, 1,339 untraded, and 78 suspended.

Turnover totalled 1.04 billion units worth RM840.80 million.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank fell two sen to RM10.42, CIMB eased four sen to RM8.19, Tenaga Nasional lost 20 sen to RM13.68, Public Bank slipped one sen to RM4.50, and IHH was flat at RM8.56.

On the most active list, Tanco rose one sen to RM1.15, TWL and Pharmaniaga were unchanged at 2.5 sen and 30 sen respectively, while MQ Tech added half-a-sen to nine sen, and Mega Fortris gained five sen to 85 sen.

Among the top gainers, Hong Leong Industries went up 36 sen to RM16.76, MPI garnered 24 sen to RM32.74, Dutch Lady rose 18 sen to RM30.98, while Country View surged 17 sen to RM2.97, and Ideal Capital jumped 15 sen to RM3.0.

As for the top losers, Nestle dropped RM2 to RM113.70, Kuala Lumpur Kepong gave up 38 sen to RM19.70, F&N slipped 20 sen to RM35.80, Petronas Gas shed 18 sen to RM18.18, and MISC dipped 16 sen to RM7.64.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index gave up 17.71 points to 12,287.18, the FBMT Top 100 Index declined 21.02 points to 12,088.31, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index fell 26.87 points to 12,087.05.

The FBM Mid 70 Index went up 38.48 points to 16,824.42 and the FBM ACE Index lost 4.25 points to 4,870.53.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index gained 9.16 points to 19,686.15, the Energy Index climbed 2.54 points to 767.46, the Industrial Products and Services Index rose 0.09 of-a-point to 174.01, while the Plantation Index tumbled 58.89 points to 8,263.23.
