Corporate Figure Syed Zainal Abidin Appointed New Chairman Of Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor 

SHAH ALAM, Jan 2 (Bernama) -- Corporate figure Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir has been appointed as the new Chairman of Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor  (PWS), effective yesterday (Jan 1), with the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

He succeeds Datuk Ibrahim Md Yusoff, who had previously contributed significantly through his role and ideas in strengthening PWS.

In a statement, PWS said the appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening the governance of waqf institutions in Selangor, as well as enhancing their role as a strategic, sustainable and effective instrument in the socio-economic development of the ummah (Muslim community).

With extensive experience in corporate development and governance, Syed Zainal Abidin has held several key positions, including Executive Director at PERODUA Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd, Group Managing Director of Proton Holdings Berhad, and Managing Director of Petronas Dagangan.

He has also held various important roles in corporate agencies and organisations focused on ummah development, including Chairman of Dagang NeXchange Berhad (DNEX), Chairman of Silterra Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and a member of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council.

Meanwhile, PWS also expressed its appreciation to Ibrahim for his contributions and efforts in strengthening PWS during his tenure as chairman.

Syed Zainal Abidin is the third chairman of PWS since the corporation was established in 2011.
