Mongolian Mining Coal Sales Rise 4 Pct In 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 (Bernama) -- Mongolian Mining Corporation sold 8,221.3 thousand tonnes (kt) of washed coking coal in 2025, a four per cent increase from 7,882.1 kt in 2024, according to an unaudited operational update for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2025.

The company in a statement said sales volumes comprised 4,920.5 kt of washed hard coking coal, 452.5 kt of washed semi-soft coking coal and 2,848.4 kt of washed mid-ash semi-hard coking coal, representing 59 per cent, six per cent and 35 per cent of total washed coking coal sales, respectively.

In coking coal operations, the group remains the largest producer and exporter of washed coking coal in Mongolia. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Energy Resources LLC (ER), operates the Ukhaa Khudag (UHG) mine, while majority-owned Khangad Exploration LLC (KEX) operates the Baruun Naran (BN) mine, both located in Umnugobi province.

The group also holds a 50 per cent equity interest in Erdene Mongol LLC (EM), owner and operator of the Bayan Khundii (BKH) gold mine, and a 50.5 per cent equity interest in Universal Copper LLC (UCC), which is developing the White Hill (WTH) copper-silver-gold project, both located in Bayankhongor province.

During the year ended Dec 31, 2025, EM sold 7,434 ounces of gold and 2,634 ounces of silver to the Bank of Mongolia and authorised commercial banks, following completion of the first gold pour on Sept 14, 2025. The weighted average realised prices were US$4,153.25 per ounce for gold and US$53.14 per ounce for silver. (US$1=RM4.05)

The BKH processing plant has a nameplate ore feed capacity of 650,000 tonnes per annum and includes crushing, grinding, cyanide leaching, carbon-in-pulp adsorption, pressure elution, electrowinning and smelting to produce doré (unrefined gold-silver) bars.

During the quarter, the group carried out drilling, bulk sampling and metallurgical testing at the WTH project to support updated JORC resource and reserve statements and completion of a feasibility study.
