Gobind Humbled By Selection To 2026 Tech Diplomacy Global 50

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said he is humbled to be named among the 2026 Tech Diplomacy Global 50, describing the recognition as a reflection of Malaysia’s digital transformation journey as the country moves towards becoming an AI Nation by 2030.

He said the acknowledgement was not solely for him, but for the Digital Ministry and Malaysia, indicating that the world is closely observing the nation’s digital efforts, policies and push to build a secure and trusted digital environment.

“My team at the Digital Ministry and its agencies have been steering our national digitalisation agenda since the ministry was set up in 2023.

“We are encouraged by such recognition, and this will further fuel us to accelerate our goals of turning Malaysia into a digital hub in Southeast Asia,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page today.

He also thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his forward-thinking approach and determination in ensuring the country’s digital landscape continues to thrive, including through amendments and the passing of laws related to digital technology, as well as the establishment of the National AI Office (NAIO).

Noting that technology continues to evolve rapidly, Gobind said there remains much work to be done, but expressed confidence that Malaysia is on the right track.

“I am confident that our efforts will enable the digital economy to contribute 30 per cent of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030. We will also see more Malaysians and businesses in Malaysia thrive and prosper in this AI era,” he added.
