Mavenir Selected To Modernise RINA Wireless Cloud-Native Voice Core

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- Mavenir, the cloud-native software company, announced that RINA Wireless, the Rural Independent Network Alliance, has selected the company to modernise its voice core, deploying IMS, VoLTE, VoWiFi, and voicemail solutions as part of a multi-vendor equipment swap.

The deployment extends an existing partnership and aims to enhance voice services for remote and rural communities through Mavenir’s containerised 4G/5G non-standalone packet core, according to a statement.

Mavenir Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cloud, AI & IMS Business Strategy, Brandon Larson said the collaboration demonstrates how cloud-native solutions can empower operators of all sizes.

He added that the deployment enables multi-tenant VoLTE and VoWiFi services while strengthening the foundation for advanced communications in rural markets.

Meanwhile, RINA Director of Operations, Allen Bennion said rural carriers play a critical role in delivering connectivity to underserved regions and face ongoing challenges in maintaining and upgrading network services.

He noted that working with Mavenir’s cloud-native platform has improved the economics of service delivery for rural operators while supporting high-quality voice connectivity.

The cloud-native architecture is designed to replace legacy virtual network functions with a fully containerised solution, reducing operational expenditure in software licensing costs, management and services, and hardware footprint.

Mavenir first deployed its cloud-native packet core solution for RINA Wireless in 2022, enabling control and user plane separation to improve traffic management, reduce latency, and expand mobile and fixed wireless access services in remote regions.

Mavenir will showcase related innovations at the Rural Wireless Infrastructure Summit in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, from June 22 to 24.
