Naico Malaysia Launches MyAERO Challenge To Strengthen National Talent Pipeline
KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- The National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (Naico Malaysia) has launched the MyAERO Challenge 2026, a national-level initiative aimed at building a sustainable aerospace talent pipeline.
The an agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) said the programme is created in response to the findings of a study on the Supply and Demand Outlook for the Malaysian Aerospace Talent (2026–2030), to ensure Malaysia remains competitive in high-value aerospace segments.
Launched at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security Asia (NATSEC) 2026 by MITI deputy minister Sim Tze Tzin, the programme is designed as a technical capability platform that connects students, academia and industry through realworld challenges.
Additionally, MyAERO Challenge 2026 acts as a binding catalyst, aligning national aspirations with industry-led technical insights from Boeing and Meraque.
"This high-impact talent booster bridges the competency gap to architect a future-ready workforce for Malaysia’s 2030 targets," Naico Malaysia said in a statement.
It also said the initiative forms part of the broader Aerospace Competency Development Modules 2026, culminating at the MyAERO Summit 2026, scheduled from June 25-27, 2026, at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS), Serdang.
"Malaysia’s aerospace industry is entering a critical growth phase where talent readiness will determine our global competitiveness.
"The MyAERO Challenge 2026 is not just a programme, it is a strategic intervention to bridge the gap between industry demand and talent supply, ensuring we build a future-ready workforce that can support the nation’s aerospace aspirations," said Naico Malaysia's chief executive officer Dr Shamsul Kamar Abu Samah.
Malaysia’s aerospace industry continued its upward momentum in 2025, recording RM32.5 billion in revenue, RM7.96 billion in trade, and attracting RM993.1 million in investments, while supporting a workforce of 34,700 skilled professionals across the ecosystem.
This performance reflects Malaysia’s growing position as a competitive aerospace hub in the region, supported by robust capabilities in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), manufacturing and engineering services.
