Chery’s iCAUR V23 Leads Southeast Asia NEV Boxy SUV Segment Sales
KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Chery Group’s new energy strategic brand, iCAUR, has reported strong global performance for its V23 model, which continues to lead the Southeast Asian new energy boxy sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment in sales.
The V23 has achieved particularly strong results across Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia, reflecting both rising demand and strong product-market fit. In Indonesia, the model gained early traction at the Indonesia International Motor Show, securing multiple awards and attracting over 300 blind pre-orders.
Meanwhile, in Thailand, cumulative sales have exceeded 4,000 units, with the model ranking no. 1 in its segment for two consecutive months and placing among the top five EV models by registrations. In Malaysia, more than 1,800 units have been delivered since launch.
The model’s performance is driven by its design tailored for regional driving conditions, including rough terrain and mixed-use urban environments. The V23 features strong off-road capability, high ground clearance and a spacious cabin, making it suitable for both daily commuting and outdoor usage scenarios.
In a statement, iCAUR said the vehicle’s safety and performance credentials are supported by a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating, a high-strength steel body structure and multiple advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The model has also received recognition in industry rankings for its performance in the mid-size pure electric SUV category.
The V23 also features a flexible modification ecosystem designed to support customisation across markets. The brand will showcase modified versions of the model at the upcoming 2026 Beijing Auto Show and iCAUR International Business Summit, alongside demonstrations of new robotics technologies.
