Gold Futures Soften On US-Iran Peace Talk Concerns
KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) -- Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower on Tuesday, tracking softer US COMEX performance, as markets weighed US-Iran peace talk prospects after weekend tensions.
At the close, the spot-month April 2026 contract fell to US$4,799.60 per troy ounce from US$4,810.10 at the previous close, while the May 2026 contract declined to US$4,819.60 from US$4,830.10 previously.
The June, July and August 2026 contracts also settled lower at US$4,837.50 per troy ounce, compared with US$4,848.60 earlier.
Trading volume rose to nine lots from six lots on Monday, while open interest edged up to 61 contracts from 60 previously.
Physical gold was fixed at US$4,813.55 per troy ounce at the London Bullion Market Association afternoon fix on April 20, 2026.
