Green Building Initiative CEO Vicki Worden To Exit
KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) -- Green Building Initiative (GBI) has announced the planned departure of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Vicki Worden, who is set to leave in late June after leading the nonprofit organisation since 2015.
In a statement, GBI said a consulting firm will be appointed to oversee the search for Worden’s permanent successor, while the organisation’s Board of Directors has named Stephen T. Ayers as interim CEO during the transition period.
GBI Board of Directors Chair and Avant-garde Sustainable Solutions CEO and Founder, Sumayyah Theron said Worden’s tenure was marked by a strong commitment to expanding the organisation’s global reach and sustainability mission.
“Under Vicki’s leadership, GBI evolved from a United States-focused organisation into a truly global presence, now serving members in more than 20 countries,” added Theron.
She added that Worden played a key role in expanding the reach of GBI’s green building standards, which now cover more than one billion square feet of certified commercial and multifamily space worldwide.
Prior to joining GBI, Worden held interim CEO and senior executive positions within the Washington, D.C. association community and spent more than a decade running a strategic management consulting firm based in Maryland and Maine.
“It has been an honour to serve alongside GBI’s highly passionate members, assessors, clients, and staff. I know I am leaving GBI in great hands as it continues to advance and increase its positive impact in its next evolution,” said Worden.
Meanwhile, Ayers, a nationally recognised leader in architecture, public service, and organisational transformation, has previously served in several interim chief executive roles, including at the National Institute of Building Sciences and the American Institute of Architects.
He also served as the 11th Architect of the Capitol after being appointed by former United States (US) President Barack Obama and confirmed by the US Senate.
