Capcom Sets Sept 25 Release For Onimusha: Way Of The Sword

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 (Bernama) -- Capcom Co Ltd, a developer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment, has announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the latest title in the Onimusha series, will be released on Sept 25.

The game, the first new instalment in the series in more than 20 years, is a Japanese-inspired dark fantasy title featuring Miyamoto Musashi as its protagonist. It is set in an Edo-era Kyoto transformed by malevolent clouds known as Malice.

Capcom in a statement said the title is being developed to appeal to a broad range of players through its sword-based action gameplay and distinctive characters.

Ahead of the launch, the company released a playable demo on June 3, allowing players to experience the game's combat system, including a battle against the formidable foe Sasaki Ganryu.

Furthermore, the company has also started accepting pre-orders for the title. Players who pre-order the game will receive in-game equipment as a bonus.

In addition to releasing major new titles annually, Capcom is focusing on reviving intellectual properties that have not seen recent releases. The company said it aims to maximise corporate value by leveraging its extensive content library, including the Onimusha franchise.

The Windows version of the demo will be released at a later date.

Founded in 1983, Capcom operates in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Tokyo, with its corporate headquarters located in Osaka, Japan.
