Bursa Malaysia Remains Positive Amid Regional Market Decline
KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia bucked the regional trend to continue trading in positive territory, with persistent buying supporting selected heavyweights.
At 3 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) jumped 7.78 points to 1,683.28 from Monday’s close of 1,675.50.
The FBM KLCI opened 0.55 of a point higher at 1,676.05 this morning.
Losers surpassed gainers in the broader market by 576 to 344, while 424 counters were unchanged, 1,346 untraded and 14 suspended.
Turnover stood at 2.78 billion units worth RM1.49 billion.
Regionally, Singapore’s Straits Times Index fell 1.21 per cent to 4,963.83, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index dropped 0.72 per cent to 24,389.07, South Korea’s benchmark Kospi was down 4.52 per cent to 7,730.82 and Japan’s Nikkei dipped 1.89 per cent to 64,179.27.
Among the heavyweights on Bursa Malaysia, Maybank, Public Bank and Tenaga Nasional all gained eight sen to RM10.70, RM4.85 and RM14.22, while CIMB was five sen better at RM7.42 and IHH Healthcare lost one sen to RM8.69.
Among the active stocks, Hong Seng Consolidated was flat at 1.5 sen, Zetrix AI was 2.5 sen better at 85 sen, Capital A lost 1.5 sen to 40 sen, OCR Group remained unchanged at 4.5 sen and TFP advanced one sen at 9.5 sen.
As for the top gainers, Kuala Lumpur Kepong added 24 sen to RM20.36, LPI Capital climbed 16 sen to RM15.26, TMK Chemical was up 15 sen to RM2.22 and Petronas Chemicals rose 13 sen to RM5.58.
Among the top losers, Nestle was RM1.18 sen lower at RM93.26, Concrete Engineering was 90 sen lower at RM4.00, Ajinomoto lost 44 sen to RM15.04, KESM Industries erased 22 sen to RM3.83 and Hong Leong Industries was 18 sen down to RM18.02.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index added 27.64 points to 12,479.60 and the FBM Top 100 Index rose 36.31 points to 12,328.30, while the FBM Emas Shariah Index edged down 2.82 points to 12,432.56.
The FBM Mid 70 Index gave up 35.67 points to 17,966.10 and the FBM ACE Index was down 52.45 points to 4,675.23.
By sector, the Financial Services Index increased 147.70 points to 19,644.59, while the Industrial Products and Services Index added 0.16 of a point to 196.84, the Energy Index slid 10.08 points to 777.55 and the Plantation Index rose 40.32 points to 8,782.77.
