Flood Mitigation, Water Treatment In Kelantan Remain A Focus For Federal Government - Fadillah

BACHOK, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- Flood mitigation and water treatment projects in Kelantan will continue to be the Federal Government’s focus, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, said all relevant projects were ongoing and being completed.

"I have been informed that there are issues with the flood mitigation project (contractor), and we will find a solution to resolve this problem so that it can be completed as planned," he said at the handover ceremony of the completed Bachok Hospital project here, today.

Fadillah said delays in completing the project would inevitably pose a risk of future floods, so the issue must be dealt with quickly.

"I will return to Kelantan to address the flood issues, as this state experiences flooding every year."

"Insya-Allah, I will discuss with the State Government to resolve this issue and I have been informed that there are land problems. We will also address the contractor issues for the project’s implementation," he added.

The construction of the Bachok Hospital, costing RM71.3 million, experienced delays since 2017. It is expected to begin operations next month.

The three-story hospital building has 76 beds, two operating theatres, specialist clinics, maternity and forensic wards, as well as laboratories and a dialysis centre, which will serve 160,000 residents in the district.

The hospital, built on a 20.3-hectare plot of land, was handed over by the Public Works Department to the Ministry of Health in August after construction was completed in July this year.
