KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Jordan have held discussions to strengthen cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, coordinating efforts through major international platforms amid escalating crisis.

The discussion took place during a phone call on Thursday between Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.

In a post on X, Malaysia's Foreign Ministry, known as Wisma Putra (@MalaysiaMFA), stated that the conversation focused on key issues surrounding the escalating Middle East crisis, particularly following Israel’s aggression toward neighbouring countries, including Lebanon.

“Both sides also discussed cooperation in channelling humanitarian aid urgently to the Palestinian people by collaborating through various international platforms," the ministry said.

Since October 7 last year, Israel has launched a brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of more than 42,400 people, mostly women and children, and injuring over 99,000 others.

Meanwhile, the death toll from Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon since the beginning of the conflict on Oct 8, 2023, has reached 2,412, and the number of wounded individuals has increased to 11,285 – according to a report on Thursday by the Lebanese Council of Ministers.
