KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- A proposal from a Malaysian company has successfully advanced to the semifinals of the Taiwan Excellence ‘Go Green With Taiwan’ global competition, joining 16 other international entries.
In a statement today, Taiwan Excellence announced that Eco Lestari Strategy, a Malaysian company known for its environmental advocacy, earned its spot with the proposal titled, ‘Green Footsteps - Community Running Program and Circular Economy Footwear Initiative.’
“… (the proposal) aims to combine Taiwan's innovative technology with green industry practices to promote circular economy and waste management,” the statement read.
The competition has attracted proposals from around the globe, with semifinalists hailing from countries such as Kenya, Canada, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Hungary, Ukraine, the UAE, India, Vietnam, the Philippines and Singapore.
Organised by Taiwan’s International Trade Administration and facilitated by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the competition aims to leverage Taiwan’s green technologies to foster sustainable global development.
“From June 19 to Aug 31, a total of 396 proposals were received from 45 countries. Vietnam, India, the Philippines, Poland, Thailand, Malaysia, the UK, and Indonesia emerged as the top contributors,” said Taiwan Excellence.
The top six proposals will be announced in early November, with finalists receiving an all-expenses-paid trip to Taiwan to present their entries.
The Grand Finals will take place on Dec 10, where the Top 3 proposals will be selected. Each winner will receive a US$20,000 prize, with results announced on Dec 11.
