MUAR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) views the MADANI Budget 2025 tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Friday as being friendly to senior citizens as Malaysia becomes an ageing country by 2030.

Its deputy minister, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the allocation for the ministry in the Budget, totalling RM3.64 billion indicates that many programmes for the elderly have been approved, including those related to socio-economic activites, the improvement of senior citizen activity centres and elderly-friendly activities.

“In addition, the Budget 2025 also favours people with disabilities, with increased allocations of RM3.4 billion this year that will hopefully help them in their daily lives, as well as allocations for local social support centres,” she said after officiating a zero-tolerance towards violence programme at the Higher Education Hub Convention Centre in Pagoh today.

She also elaborated on the programme she officiated today, saying that it was an initiative by the ministry to tackle sexual harassment in institutions of higher education in the country that will involve students as agents in the community to help tackle such heinous acts.

“The programme includes anti-sexual harassment advocacy by the Women’s Development Department, an introduction to the Anti-Sexual Harassment Tribunal, a cyberbullying talk by Cybersecurity Malaysia as well as a Coffee Talk with the KPWKM deputy minister and a mural signing to symbolise everyone’s commitment to curb sexual harassment,” she said.
