Daniel Powter Honoured At Knights Award 2024
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Renowned Canadian singer Daniel Powter, who was honoured at The Knights Award 2024, Season 3 – Global Edition, here recently, expressed his admiration for the country, describing his first visit as an unforgettable experience, citing its incredible food and the warmth of its people.
“I’m thrilled to have won The Knights Award for Season 3. My first visit to Malaysia has been truly special—amazing food, warm people; Malaysia is growing on me,” said Powter after receiving the prestigious accolade at the PETRONAS Philharmonic Hall in the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC, on Oct 14.
In addition to receiving the award, Powter performed as the event’s guest artiste. He is best known for his global hit ‘Bad Day,’ which has garnered over 600 million streams on Spotify and sold more than 25 million copies worldwide.
The Knights Award, founded by entrepreneur Dr Zyro Wong and presented by Mee Hiris China Muslim, is endorsed by the Commonwealth Youth Innovation Centre, representing 56 member countries.
Dr Zyro said the organising committee aims to elevate the award to new heights and establish an elite nexus of leaders committed to fostering business success and economic growth.

The prestigious Knights Award 2024, Season 3 – Global Edition, attracted an array of notable figures, including Honorary Adviser Tengku Datuk Hishammuddin Zaizi Tengku Bendahara Azman Shah Alhaj, Director of iKhasas Group, Founding President of the Malaysia-China Silk Route Business Chamber Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat, Cambodian Prince Norodom Naravong, General Surapon Tapananont of the Royal Thai Army, and SME Corp Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Rizal Nainy.
The event brought together high-profile individuals, business leaders, local and international celebrities, with over 30 per cent of this year’s winners being international talents. A total of 44 outstanding individuals and companies were recognised across three award categories for their excellence in various industries.
The top honour, the Duke Award, celebrates the most exceptional achievements. Notable recipients included Daniel Powter (International Timeless Singer of the Year, North America), Dr Yusuf Bhai (Legendary Perfumer of All Time, UAE), Datuk Seri Bernard Chandran (Fashion Icon of the Year), Felix Demin (Inspiring Entrepreneur of the Year), and Law Lan (Lifetime Achievement Award, Hong Kong).
The Knights Award empowers its winners through business matching, elite networking, corporate visits, and fostering mutual growth.
The event serves as a platform to showcase Malaysia as a growing hub for entrepreneurship and innovation, promoting cross-industry and cross-border collaboration under the tagline ‘Bond, Build & Bloom.’
Last year, BERNAMA TV, a platform under the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA), was recognised for ‘The Fastest News Distribution of All Time (Malaysia)’ during Season 2 of the awards.
