Azam Baki Reminds MACC Officers To Steer Clear Of Corruption, Negative Mindset

NILAI, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki today advised MACC officers to avoid corruption in their daily duties and avoid tainting their minds with negative things that can become parasites within the organisation.

He likened corruption to api dalam sekam (hidden evil) that can erode justice and good values, threatening well-being and destroying a nation if left unchecked.

"I would also like to remind these new recruits that they must quickly equip themselves with skills and a creative mindset and adopt a more positive and responsive attitude to remain relevant and competitive.

"I would also like to urge them to fully prepare themselves, as the responsibilities awaiting them at MACC will bring a new shift in their lives," he said. 

He said that at the parade of the graduation ceremony of the Basic Course for MACC Officers Series 28 Batch 1/2023 (Assistant Superintendent Grade P29) at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) here today.

A total of 111 cadet officers completed the basic course and were awarded a Professional Diploma in International Law Enforcement: Anti-Corruption Studies (Level 5), an accredited course in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University (NTU), United Kingdom. The course involved nine months of basic training and professional diploma studies.

Meanwhile, Azam stated that MACA in Bandar Enstek in Nilai is MACC's dedicated facility for basic training for newly recruited cadet officers, which is on par with other leading training institutions.

Meanwhile, the overall best cadet, Mohamad Ikhmal Mohammad Huzir Affindi, 29, said that it has been his dream to be an MACC officer since he was 21. He added that he was accepted to undergo training on Nov 15 last year.

"I was called in for an interview six times but each time I failed. However, on the seventh attempt, God made it easier for me, and thanks to my parents' prayers, I finally succeeded in becoming an MACC officer, in addition to being awarded the Overall Best Cadet for this course," said the Ipoh, Perak native.
