KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Over 200 tourism packages across Malaysia await visitors at the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Carnival 2024 (KCCM 2024), which runs for three days at the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex, beginning today.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said the carnival, themed "Crafting Holidays," encourages Malaysians to explore local destinations while taking advantage of special packages promoted during the event.

"These packages are offered by over 100 industry players with discounts ranging from 15 to 50 per cent.

"One unique highlight at KCCM 2024 is the Saloma Market, themed as a classic Malay village. With over 30 stalls offering traditional dishes, snacks, and craft products, Saloma Market is sure to evoke nostalgia and create an Instagrammable experience like no other," he said during the opening ceremony of KCCM 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex.

Also present were Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Manoharan Periasamy and chairman Datuk (Dr) Yasmin Mahmood.

In addition, the Craft Complex Package offers guided group tours and interactive craft activities at four craft complexes: Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Johor, and Melaka.

"Each local craft centre has its unique attractions, including craft sales centres, the Heritage Craft Gallery, Craft Village, Artist Village, Ethno Craft Park, and Kelulut Honey Park.

“To help tourists plan their trips and discover craft products in each state, the 'Craft On The Go' (COTG) app is also available for download," he added.

KCCM 2024 is organised by Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with Kraftangan Malaysia and other agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), such as the National Heritage Department and the Department of Culture and Arts.

Meanwhile, Khairul Firdaus said 127 million domestic visitors had been recorded from January to June 2024, with tourism spending amounting to RM53.2 billion.

"This year, the ministry targets 221 million domestic visitors with spending projected at RM92.7 billion, increasing to 241 million visitors by 2025, and 261 million by 2026, with expected domestic tourism expenditure reaching RM115.2 billion," he said.
