Malton Bhd was recognised as Best Developer (Central Malaysia) for its Bukit Jalil City and The Park 2 Pavilion Bukit Jalil projects, while Berinda Group received the Best Developer (Southern Malaysia) title, buoyed by its award-winning project Ponderosa Callista.

PropertyGuru Group country manager for Malaysia Kenneth Soh said close to 82 per cent of Malaysia's population will be living in urban areas by 2030, outpacing urbanisation rates in countries such as Thailand and Indonesia.

He said Malaysia is at an interesting juncture, where it needs to balance the opportunities and challenges that urbanisation brings, alongside increasing demand for homeownership.

"As the region and Malaysia's leading property technology (proptech) organisation, our role is to bridge the gap between buyers’ expectations, agents' propositions and developers’ offerings with relevant proptech data and solutions to foster a more balanced and sustainable property ecosystem.

"As we look ahead to 2025, we can anticipate ongoing demand for sustainable, community-focused designs, affordable housing, and alternative developments beyond city centres," he said in his speech at PropertyGuru Asia Awards Malaysia 2024 last night.

Meanwhile, Quayside JBCC by Bangsar Heights Pavilion was named Best Designed Development (Malaysia) in one of four golden statuettes for the project, while Horizon Hills by Horizon Hills Development Sdn Bhd received the Best Township Development (Malaysia) award and The MET Corporate Towers by Triterra Sdn Bhd won the Best Commercial Development (Malaysia) award.
