KLUANG, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- The Johor branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) recorded 956 offenses, resulting in seizures valued at RM29.24 million, since Jan 1.

State director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo noted that the seizures involved 68,989 premises, including manufacturers, wholesalers, supermarkets, and retailers, who were issued fines totaling RM392,800.

“With these enforcement actions, particularly continuous inspections, KPDN Johor is demonstrating its commitment and concern for the interests of consumers in this state.

“The total court fines collected from those who committed the offenses amounted to RM623,000,” she told reporters after officiating the state level Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme for Deepavali 2024 at a supermarket here today.

Meanwhile, Lilis added that KPDN guarantees sufficient food supply to face the flood season, following the northeast monsoon, expected to begin in November.

"During this monsoon season, KPDN permits selected wholesalers and retailers to stock food supplies beyond the established limits in anticipation of possible floods," she said.
