KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- While champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) have built a commanding lead at the halfway stage of the Super League, their closest challengers Selangor FC aren’t giving up yet.
Selangor FC chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said the Red Giants remain within striking distance and would stay focused on securing as many points as possible in the remaining matches.
He admitted that the squad under coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil faces a tough challenge to close the gap with the Southern Tigers.
“A huge gap (with JDT), but we take it one game at a time. We’re not focusing on the gap; we want to focus on ourselves and get as many wins as we can.
"The squad is in a good position, and we’ll address the areas that need improvement,” he told reporters.
Last Sunday, the Red Giants were outclassed by JDT in a 3-0 defeat at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ).
JDT star Bergson da Silva scored twice, with Romel Morales adding another goal to secure their win.
The victory solidified JDT’s position at the top of the table with 34 points from 12 matches, maintaining an unbeaten record.
Selangor sit in second place with 26 points from 13 matches, including three losses.
