PETALING JAYA, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Over RM200,000 worth of exclusive travel packages are available during the three-day Selangor Travel Fair hosted by Tourism Selangor, which kicked off yesterday in conjunction with the Visit Selangor Year 2025.
Selangor Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim said that in addition to the state's rich heritage and culture, new attractions offered during the fair can shape the tourism industry in Malaysia for local and international visitors.
"The Selangor Travel Fair, which receives cooperation from Journify by Malaysia Aviation Group and total support from various government agencies, aims to attract up to 8 million tourists next year and achieve tourism expenditure of up to RM11.7 billion," he said at the opening ceremony and the pre-launch of the Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign at the Orange Concourse, Sunway Pyramid, here today.
Also present were Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad, State Housing and Culture Committee chairman and Tourism Selangor board member Datuk Borhan Aman Shah, and Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general Lee Thai Hung.
Ng noted that this collaboration offers discounts and attractive packages through more than 20 tourism products, adding that the state government plans to organise over 100 events next year in support of the campaign.
The Selangor Travel Fair 2024 participants include SplashMania Waterpark, Skyline Luge, Jumpstreet Asia Malaysia, Farm in the City, and Eastin Hotel.
The logo for the Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign was also launched at the event, and Aizat Amdan performed the theme song.
Meanwhile, Azrul Shah said that various travel packages with discounts of up to 50 per cent are offered throughout the event, adding that the travel fair is an excellent platform to boost domestic tourism.
"Selangor has recorded the highest number of visitors in Malaysia for three consecutive years, hitting 22 million domestic visitors in 2023.
"We believe that the Selangor state government's mission to attract 8 million tourists for Visit Selangor Year 2025 can be achieved, especially with the collaboration of government and private agencies," he added.
