Singapore PM Wong To Make Introductory Visit To Indonesia

SINGAPORE, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will make a two-day introductory visit to Jakarta, Indonesia beginning on Tuesday, according to his office.

Wong, who is also Finance Minister, will meet Indonesia President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, whose inauguration he attended last month.

He will also meet the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani and the Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin.

“The visit reaffirms Singapore’s commitment to strengthening our longstanding friendship with Indonesia and provides an opportunity for leaders on both sides to exchange views on enhancing bilateral ties,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Wong will be accompanied by Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen, Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Manpower Minister, and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng, and Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and Health Rahayu Mahzam.

Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong will serve as Acting Prime Minister during Wong’s absence.
