WASHINGTON, Nov 6 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Outgoing US President Joe Biden’s approval rating is underwater nationwide, according to CNN’s preliminary exit poll of the presidential election.
Anadolu Agency citing the network reported that roughly four in 10 voters approve of Biden’s job performance, while the majority disapprove.
Nearly three-quarters have a negative view of the way things are currently happening in the US.
"Only about one-quarter call themselves enthusiastic or satisfied with the state of the nation, with more than 4 in 10 dissatisfied and roughly 3 in 10 saying they’re angry," said the exit poll.
Voters, however, remain generally optimistic, despite the sentiments, with more than six in 10 saying that America’s best days are in the future, and only about one-third indicating they are in the past.
Democracy and the economy are also the two issues at the top of voters' minds, according to initial results.
Millions of Americans are headed to the polls Tuesday to elect the 47th president of the US, with former President Donald Trump going against his Democratic contender, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Separately, Anadolu Agency reported that Biden will spend Election Night at the White House with first lady Jill Biden, receiving updates on races with top aides.
"The President will receive regular updates on the state of races across the country," a White House official told US media outlets.
It also reported that Kamala plans to host an Election Night watch party at Howard University in Washington, a historically Black college and her alma mater, marking a historic first for the campus.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump will monitor results from Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, where he is set to host several gatherings, including a select group at his residence and a larger event later at the Palm Beach Convention Centre.
According to The New York Times, citing three people with knowledge of his schedule, Elon Musk is expected to join Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
