M6 World Championship: SRG Not Taking S2G Lightly At Opening

PUCHONG, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- Mobile Legends Bang Bang  (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 14 champions Selangor Red Giants (SRG) will not take it easy against Turkish representative, S2G Esports in the opening match of the MLBB M6 World Championship taking place from Nov 21 to Dec 15.

SRG co-founder, Simon Lim said his players need to be careful because they still don't know how the Turkish league winners will play in an effort to qualify for the next round of the world's biggest e-sports tournament in the country.

"I think it's a very good draw, luckily we didn't meet giant countries like Indonesia and the Philippines. We will meet S2G Esports, we do not have details about them and it will be a challenge to prepare.

"But we are optimistic, I just text the boys, they are eager, they look confident," he told reporters at the M6 ​​Unveiling Swiss Stage at Spacerubix which was also attended by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim here today.

For the record, S2G surprised the favourite Fire Flux Esports in the play-off round of the Turkish league with a 4-2 victory in the final.

Earlier, at the draw ceremony another national representative, Team Vamos, will start the tournament campaign against Twisted Minds of Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Adam Adli is also optimistic that the national squad will be able to present the best performance at the prestigious tournament.

"If we look at our regional friends, we are also excited to meet Malaysia because we can see a good development in terms of their performance and this gives us confidence in the team that will represent Varmos and SRG," he said.

The M6 ​​World Championship will start from Nov 21 with a wildcard round that will take place at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre, Putrajaya, where eight teams will compete for a place in the Swiss Stage.

The Swiss Stage will take place from November 28 to December 5, at the same location, where 16 teams will be whittled down to eight for the playoff round.

The semi-final and final (Dec 14-15) will be held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil.
